Just wow. Gosh, you guys, I am so glad I decided to do Santa portraits this year. In 14 years of business I have never done Santa pictures. As a children’s photographer I don’t know why!?! By late October I had so many inquires about wether I was doing Santa sessions that I decided to give it some serious thought. If I was going to do it, I didn’t want it to be basic. I didn’t want to do the same ole thing that has been seen over & over, the kind of snapshot you stick on your fridge for the season. I wanted to create keepsakes, Christmas heirlooms. I started getting excited. I had big ideas. Could I pull it off with such little time? If I was going to do it I knew the Santa I would want to hire. I reached out. He only had one day availability left. I decided to go for it & I am so glad I did! It was pure MAGIC & so much fun! I will 100% do Santa sessions again next year! I already can’t wait to do it again!
Truth, some kids are afraid of Santa. This can make for some really cute pictures too….. (but keep reading)
With these special sessions we were able to work around this. Santa was in the break room when kids came in. We talked to them about Santa being there. We explained that he would not come out until we called for him because he was busy working on his list. Kids got to have their portrait made in Santa’s chair without him. This way we got beautiful pictures before Santa emerged. Then we would call for him together. if it didn’t go well, we photoshopped him in after. 🙂 This way everyone got both with & without Santa pictures. The kids LOVED seeing their pictures with Santa at their portrait viewing appointment!
It really was magical! The kids had so much fun & so did I!! I can’t wait to see these portraits & keepsake albums in person. And I REALLY can’t wait to do it again next year, I learned so much, I know it will be even better!
